Claudia Black Online sent a repoter to Comic-Con 2009 in San Diego to cover all the events where Claudia Black was involved. LongLiveVala on the forum or Meagan in the real world, went to the international convention to see Claudia Black in the real world as well and she saw more things about tons of TV shows, movies and comics inside the San Diego Convention Center. This is the full report that Meagan sent us. Enjoy it.Comic-Con 2009
Wow. Where to begin?? Let me start by saying that everyone who was there was surprisingly nice! This was the first 'geek' convention I have ever attended, but I can guarantee that it won't be my last. I had such a great time that I'm already planning for next year. I'll go day by day so you can get the full effect.
Wednesday 22th (Preview Night)
I arrived at the convention center around five and got my volunteer assignment for the following day. It was crazy! There were SO many people there! As I was moving through the massive horde of people I was wondering why it is that fish seem to be able to swim in much larger groups than the one I was in without ever running into each other, but humans don't have that same gift... Why is that? It would've come in very, very handy. Especially around those people who are carrying huge backpacks and poster tubes, yet don't seem to realize that this means they are an extra three feet wide in the back and then they make sudden sharp turns that knock you around or smack you in the face. Ok, rant over... I promise.
Preview Night, I just walked the floor and checked out all the booths I could see. There were far too many to be able to see them all, but I feel like I got around to the majority of them by the end of everything. I found The Guild booth pretty quickly since I knew the whole cast was signing autographs. For those of you who don't know, The Guild is a webseries created/written by and also starring the enormously talented Felicia Day. If you haven't seen it, I recommend that you get on youtube and watch it right now. I bought the season one DVD and got it signed by the cast. They are all really, really nice and wonderfully real people. I also found the BOOM! Studios booth and bought all of the issues of the Farscape comics I was missing. And I got them all signed by the author Keith DeCandido.
There were screenings of new tv shows that night, but I didn't go to any of them. I was too overwhelmed by the exhibit hall and they are all going to be on my television for my viewing pleasure in another month or so, so I wasn't too upset about it. And that pretty much concludes day one.
